The 49ers pushed their injured reserve list to an even dozen, by putting center Daniel Kilgore on season-ending IR for the second time in three years.

Via Cam Inman of the San Jose Mercury News, Kilgore suffered a right knee injury during Sunday’s overtime loss to the Jets. They replaced him in the starting lineup with Marcus Martin, but on the roster by promoting Alex Balducci from the practice squad.

Only four teams have more players on IR than the 49ers at the moment, including the Chargers (17), Bears (16), Ravens (15), and Texans (13).

And while injuries can’t explain fully why they’re so bad this year, it certainly hasn’t helped to have high-level players including NaVorro Bowman and Eric Reid and others on that list.
