Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green said after Sunday’s game that he was playing this week, and he took an actual step in that direction today.
According to Coley Harvey of ESPN.com, Green practiced for the first time in a month, after rehabbing his problematic toe.
“I feel good,” Green said following his limited work in practice. “We’re going to do a little bit [Thursday] and see how it goes.”
As tempting as it might be to give him another week to recover (against the 1-7 Jaguars) with a short-week game against the Browns following that, Green said he was tired of waiting.
“I’m not going to take any kind of approach,” he said. “I’m just going to play as hard as I can and see what happens. . . .
“In the back of my mind it’s like that, but I’ve got to take care of my body. I’ve got a long career ahead of me and I don’t want anything lingering on and be something serious when I could have just rested and made it feel better.”
He’s missed the last three games, and though Mohamed Sanu has played well in his absence, the Bengals could clearly use their star back.
