An 80-yard touchdown run from Vikings running back Adrian Peterson late in Sunday’s win over the Raiders didn’t just cement the 30-14 outcome. It also tied an NFL record.
According to the NFL, Peterson’s effort gave him six 200-yard performances for his career, matching the mark set by O.J. Simpson.
Peterson has 11,151 rushing yards and 91 touchdowns in 113 career games, joining Jim Brown as the only players to rush for 11,000 yards and 90 scores in 113 games.
And it looks like Peterson will gain a lot more. After he broke through the box on Sunday, he blasted into the open and, if anything gained separation over the guys chasing him as he approached the end zone.
Not bad for a 30-year-old tailback.
