Adrian Peterson says there’s no reason to sit out a week

Toby Gerhart enjoyed having a chance to get hit in last week’s game against the Seahawks, but his bruises may have to satisfy him a little bit longer.

Adrian Peterson said Thursday that he plans on playing against the Packers despite a groin injury that he felt robbed him of some of his ability last weekend. Tom Pelissero of USA Today reports that Peterson said there’s no part of him that believes it would be beneficial to take a week off to allow his injury to heal fully.

There are likely those that would disagree with him, but Peterson’s going to be in the lineup and getting plenty of work on as long as the game isn’t a blowout. There are also going to be plenty that disagree with Peterson’s feeling that there’s still a chance of making the playoffs, but the running back has no interest in hearing from them.

“I don’t care what the people on the outside think about it,” Peterson said.

In that spirit, we’ll save the explanations of why it’s unlikely that a 2-8 team will make the playoffs and just say that a fully powered Peterson would be essential to any hopes of making that happen.
