Yes, Adrian Peterson has met with Vikings ownership, in what could be construed as an effort to talk his way out of town.
But it’s not the last meeting.
Peterson’s father Nelson told Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press that his son would have another meeting with team officials later this week.
“They will meet again,” Nelson Peterson said. “I’m not going to say who’s going to be at the meeting. I can’t comment on that.”
Peterson’s already made the rounds, talking with General Manager Rick Spielman and coach Mike Zimmer at his Houston home, and then Monday with owners Zygi and Mark Wilf and Spielman in New York.
“Just stuff coming up from the Vikings and that’s about it, so nothing was resolved,” Nelson Peterson said. “Everything remains the same. He still has options with returning, so the door hasn’t been closed.”
Peterson’s dad said his son hasn’t asked for a trade. Of course, if there’s an open door in Dallas, Peterson may push for one the next time he talks to his bosses.
UPDATE 4:31 p.m. ET: The Pioneer Press has amended its earlier report, striking the quote about a meeting and paraphrasing. They also added another source saying there was no meeting scheduled.
So maybe Nelson isn’t as clued in on the schedule as he thought he was.
