Amazingly, no one claimed alleged Yorkie-killer off waivers

Sometimes in the NFL, there are surprises.

And sometimes things are exactly as expected.

According to the league’s personnel notice, former Falcons linebacker Prince Shembo was not claimed by another team today, making him a free agent.

While the 2014 fourth-rounder may have some football value to a team, the fact he was arrested for kicking his then-girlfriend’s single-digit-pound dog, causing massive internal injuries and ultimately its death might have deterred teams from attaching their names to his.
“He wants to get rid of this,” his attorney Jerry Froelich told the Gwinnett Daily Post. “He’s already paid a hell of a price for reacting to a dog bite.”

Not quite the same price the dog did, we suppose, but a price nonetheless.
