During the offseason, wide receiver Andre Johnson had a lot of questions about the direction that the Texans were taking after a 2-14 season in 2013.
Johnson stayed away from the team until training camp, when he reported for work and started getting some answers. Johnson seems to like what he’s seen from coach Bill O’Brien thus far, telling Albert Breer of NFL Media that he likes the way the Texans are moving him around on offense as well as the style that O’Brien has adopted as the head man in Houston.
“Definitely more blunt; he’s gonna tell you what it is, he doesn’t care who you are, and he’s gonna show you what you’re doing wrong,” Johnson said. “It’s good to have that, because no one gets treated special. If I go out there and mess up, he’s gonna let me know. That’s cool, though. I like that.”
Johnson had six catches for 93 yards last week and has a favorable matchup ahead of him against the Raiders on Sunday. If the Texans can use that to help them to a second straight win, the good feelings for the team will likely grow for Johnson. That may not mean a return to the postseason for the Texans, but it should make the memory of this offseason’s unhappiness fade away even faster.
