Anquan Boldin plans to keep playing

He turned 35 last month, but 49ers receiver Anquan Boldin doesn’t plan to call it quits any time soon.

No, this isn’t the end,” Boldin said this week, via Cam Inman of the San Jose Mercury News.

Boldin has been dealing with a hamstring issue. He intends to return next Sunday, for a trip to Seattle and a game against the Seahawks.

“For me, it’s an isolated incident,” Boldin said regarding the injury. “I’ve been durable over my career. I haven’t missed a game since [the 2012 regular-season finale], and that was because we’d already secured a playoff spot. . . . I’m not worried about my durability or health, at all.”

There was chatter that he wasn’t on the trading block last week, because of his health. The broader question is whether the 49ers want him back next year. As the team continues to reshape itself post-Harbaugh, a starting receiver who’ll turn 36 may not be the best strategy for the future.
