When Beanie Wells went down with a knee injury on Sunday, the Cardinals feared it could be serious. But the news today is relatively good.

Wells is only expected to miss one or two weeks with a bone bruise, according to Jason La Canfora of NFL Network.

The injury was to Wells’ right knee, the same knee that was surgically repaired last year. Wells was hampered by the knee throughout the 2010 season, missing three games and having a generally unproductive year, finishing with just 397 yards on 3.4 yards a carry. This season Wells has been much better, with 423 yards and 4.6 yards a carry.

UPDATE: A league source tells PFT’s Mike Florio that Wells has a bone bruise.
