Back in April, the Chicago Bears took a flier on veteran return specialist Darius Reynaud. Now that veteran return specialist Eric Weems has been dumped, the Bears have given Reynaud a job.
The team announced on Monday night that Reynaud, a former West Virginia standout, has joined the team. At the NFL level, Reynaud has played for the Vikings, Giants, Titans, and Jets.
Reynaud has appeared in 48 regular-season games, and he has returned 102 punts for 985 yards (9.7 ypr) and two touchdowns. He also has returned 104 kickoff returns for 2,347 yards (22.6 ypr) and a touchdown
The Bears also added cornerback Peyton Thompson and dumped a couple of special-teamers: long-snapper Chad Rempel and punter Tress Way.
