Said Bears coach Lovie Smith, “I think most of the rookies are about where we thought they would be. Really, this camp is about trying to catch the players up a little bit, [so] when they get ready to go mix in with our veterans, we don’t have to stop for them.”
Former Illinois QB Juice Williams is at the Bears’ minicamp and says he’ll switch positions if it will help him make the team.
Defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli has high hopes for the defensive line.
Says offensive line coach Mike Tice of LT Chris Williams, “there is no way he can’t be a success.”
Rookie QB Dan LeFevour’s arm will get close scrutiny at minicamp.
Said third-round pick Major Wright, “I definitely feel like a freshman again. The coaches made everything intense. I’m trying to soak everything in, just take everything and learn.”
The Bears had 54 players on the field for their first 90-minute minicamp practice.
