The Patriots may have more big-game experience than the Colts, but Bill Belichick says that doesn’t matter.
Asked today how much of a difference his team’s postseason experience will make in the AFC Championship Game on Sunday, Belichick answered, “Zero.”
“I think it’ll be the team that plays the best. I don’t think it’s about how many All-Pros or how many playoff games or anything. I don’t think that has anything to do with it. I’ve been on plenty of teams that didn’t have any experience and won. We can go through the league and find just as many examples of that. So, zero.”
Belichick wasn’t in the mood to talk about playoff storylines, cutting off one question by saying all he was focused on was the game ahead of him.
“None of that really matters to me so I don’t really care,” Belichick said. “We’re just trying to get ready for this game. It’s a one-game season.”
Ultimately, Belichick didn’t seem to care much for the questions of the assembled media, noting anything that can be said on Friday will be meaningless once the ball is kicked off on Sunday.
“I think the team that performs the best on Sunday is the team that will win,” Belichick said. “I think all the rest of it’s a bunch of hot air. Write whatever you want. I don’t think it matters. It doesn’t mean anything.”
