The Bengals delivered a one-sided beatdown today in New Orleans, dominating all phases of the game and whipping the Saints, 27-10.
Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton bounced back nicely from his disastrous showing last week. Today he completed 16 of 22 passes for 220 yards, with three touchdowns and no interceptions. The Bengals needed Dalton to deliver a big game, and he did.
A.J. Green was Dalton’s favorite receiver, catching six of the eight passes thrown to him, for 127 yards and a touchdown. Rookie running back Jeremy Hill had another big game in place of the injured starter Giovanni Bernard, gaining 152 yards on the ground. Once Bernard is healthy, the Bengals will have a 1-2 punch at running back as good as any in the NFL.
About the best thing you can say for the Saints is that they play in the NFC South, which means that even at 4-6, they’re still right in the thick of the division race. Although they did fall out of first place today, they’ll be in contention down the stretch. Even though the Bengals made them look like a very bad team.
