The Bengals avoided stubbing a toe without their best player, but they’ll be watching that toe all week.
A league source tells PFT that Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green suffered a turf toe injury Sunday.
He left the game early, and did not return.
While the name of the injury might sound innocuous, it’s a problematic injury for anyone who has to push off, change directions or accelerate. Those things come up in football sometimes.
The Bengals posted an impressive win without him, but it will be hard to sustain if he misses much time. There’s no word at the moment on how much time he’ll miss.
UPDATE 5:50 p.m. ET: The initial diagnosis of turf toe has changed. Green is now believed to have a sprained ligament in his foot.
