To little surprise, given that the team has called a 10:00 a.m. ET press conference, the Bills and receiver Stevie Johnson have struck a new deal.

Johnson, a seventh-round pick in 2008, has become a very good but not yet great receiver (Mickey Loomis agrees), which surely made it hard to set his value.

It’ll be very interesting to see the numbers, since that will have a factor on the many upcoming free-agent deals for receivers.

Though the Bills at times seemed ambivalent about Johnson, it makes sense to keep him. He has shown that he has the ability to be a game-changer, and he is one of the few receivers who can consistently get the better of Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis.
