Birds bring back Hank Baskett

Cut last season due to a numbers crunch that partially has been alleviated with the trade of Reggie Brown, receiver Hank Baskett is back in Philly.

Baskett, originally an undrafted free agent, was traded to the Eagles by the Vikings in 2006. Largely a backup (he has seven career starts), Baskett has been a reliable member of the depth chart.

After being cut, he landed with the Colts, where he caught only four passes in 11 games. Most notably, he failed to catch an onside kick at the outset of the third quarter in the Super Bowl, which tilted the momentum toward the eventual champions, the Saints.

The fact that Baskett has signed a one-year deal could be largely meaningless; he’s currently a member of the 80-man roster. In the end, he could be one of the 27 who is politely asked to get the hell out.
