Bobby Wagner would like an extension “soon”

The Seahawks and quarterback Russell Wilson are reportedly having a hard time finding common ground on terms for a contract extension, which may be leading Wilson to vent on Twitter about the slow-moving process.

Linebacker Bobby Wagner is also heading into the final year of his contract and he shares Wilson’s desire for an extension that will keep him in Seattle for years to come, although he’s sharing his current thoughts on things outside of social media. Before Wagner threw out the first pitch at a Mariners game on Friday night, he said that he hoped to have a deal “soon” despite the fact that not much is going on.

“I’ve heard nothing so until I get something to sign then I haven’t heard nothing,” Wagner said, via the Seattle Times.

The Seahawks will have just one franchise tag to use heading into the 2016 season and it becomes likelier they’ll use it for Wilson the longer that Wilson and the team remain far apart. That could bump Wagner’s extension higher up the list of priorities on the contract front and lead to a deal well ahead of the start of free agency.
