BRADY INFECTION IS IN AREA OF TORN MCL

The reports to date regarding the infection in Tom Brady’s surgically-repaired knee have not specified the precise location of the infection. We’ve assumed that it’s in the immediate vicinity of the new ACL. As it turns out, the infection arose in the MCL. According to Tom Curran of NBCSports.com, Brady’s decision to proceed with the ACL replacement before the MCL had healed resulted in the surgeon performing a procedure on the MCL to remedy perceived looseness. And then the infection set in. If Brady had waited until the MCL had fully healed before having surgery, it’s possible if not likely that no work would have been required in the area of the knee that became infected.
