The unsung hero of the Super Bowl that ended in a loss for the Seahawks is heading back to Seattle.
Per a league source, and confirming multiple reports, cornerback Brandon Browner will re-sign with the Seahawks on Monday. He returns after spending a year with the Patriots and a season with the Saints.
It was Browner who allowed cornerback Malcolm Butler to be in position to make a game-saving goal-line interception of Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson. Browner, in the final game of his only season in New England, prevented receiver Jermaine Kearse from getting through to pick Butler.
Browner was a disappointment for the Saints last year. He recently disclosed that he played through a torn MCL.
After originally entering the NFL in 2005, Browner landed in the CFL. That’s where the Seahawks discovered him in 2011.
Browner, who turns 32 in August, adds depth at the Ringo Starr position in the Legion of Boom, led for the past four years by cornerback Richard Sherman and safeties Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor.
