Broncos tight end Julius Thomas may be on the way out of Denver.
Thomas, who becomes a free agent on March 10, has no talks scheduled with the Broncos, according to the Denver Post. That stands in contrast to the Broncos’ negotiations with all their other key players who are soon to be free agents.
Thomas wants to test free agency and see what he can make on the open market, which is why he turned down an offer months ago for a contract that would have made him the third-highest paid tight end in the NFL, behind only Jimmy Graham and Rob Gronkowski. If the Broncos make Thomas the best offer he gets, then he’ll stay in Denver, but he doesn’t appear interested in taking a hometown discount.
Broncos receivers Demaryius Thomas and Wes Welker also become free agents on March 10, and it appears that re-signing Demaryius Thomas is the Broncos’ top priority. The Broncos may have only one Thomas this season.
