The Broncos’ decision to use an original round tender on running back C.J. Anderson is expected to lead to a fair amount of interest in the undrafted free agent turned restricted free agent after a couple of years as a big part of the Denver offense.
The Broncos would have the right to match an offer to Anderson, but they wouldn’t get any compensation if he left for another team. That would not be the case if they were to lose linebacker Brandon Marshall.
According to multiple reports, the Broncos will use the second-round tender on Marshall, which means they’d get a second-round pick back from a team signing Marshall away. Marshall, who has started 29 games for the Broncos over the last two years, will make $2.553 million for the 2016 season under the terms of the tag.
Marshall’s play over the last couple of seasons could lead to some interest at that price. Trey Wingo of ESPN and Troy Renck of the Denver Post both report the Dolphins could be one of those teams, although Monday’s trade for Kiko Alonso may change that outlook assuming it goes through on Wednesday. Renck also mentions the Seahawks as a potential suitor.
