Terrelle Pryor wants to be a receiver. And the Cleveland Browns want the first chance to let him show that he can become one.
Per a league source, the Browns claimed Pryor on waivers.
Released last week by the Bengals, Pryor’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, began informing teams that Pryor was willing to make the switch from pass-thrower to pass-catcher. He’ll be reunited with former Raiders quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo, who now runs the offense in Cleveland.
Earlier on Monday, Pryor declared that he’ll make a “great WR” on Twitter, while also posting clips of his efforts as a quarterback with the Bengals at practice. The Bengals reportedly are upset by the gesture, and if Pryor makes the team in Cleveland they’ll have a chance to tell him about it directly this year. Twice.
The fact that the Browns received Pryor’s rights means that no one higher on the pecking order tried to get him. It’s not yet known whether anyone lower than Browns on the worst-to-first hierarchy made a claim for him.
