Wide receiver Saalim Hakim took part in the Browns’ minicamp last week as a tryout player and did enough to earn a longer look with the team this offseason.
The Browns announced Monday that they have signed Hakim to their 90-man roster.
Hakim, who is the younger brother of former Rams wideout Az-Zahir Hakim, played two games for the Chiefs during the 2015 season. He played 19 games for the Jets across the 2013 and 2014 seasons, seeing the majority of his action as a special teamer. He returned 13 kickoffs for 279 yards and lost three yards on two rushing attempts with the Jets in 2013.
The Browns used a variety of kickoff returners during the 2015 season with Justin Gilbert and Raheem Mostert leading the team with 12 apiece.
