When the Buccaneers made their first cuts, wide receiver Evan Spencer was on their first 53-man roster. Today, he’s retired.

The team just announced that Spencer was placed on the reserve/retired list.

He was cut last week when they signed veteran wideout Cecil Shorts, and was placed on the team’s practice squad. Apparently, that was not a suitable resolution.

Spencer is the son of Buccaneers running backs coach Tim Spencer. Originally a sixth-round pick by Washington, he spent most of last year on the Bucs practice squad, but was activated to the 53-man roster for the regular season finale.
