Before the second round of the draft even began, the Buccaneers had a contract in place with quarterback Jameis Winston, the first overall pick in round one. Now, one of the guys taken in round two has agreed to terms, completing the team’s class of 2015.
The Buccaneers have announced that second-round guard Ali Marpet has signed his rookie deal. By rule, it’s a four-year deal.
Tampa Bay took Penn State tackle Donovan Smith with the second pick in round two. They traded back into the bottom of the round to get Marpet, who played at Hobart.
Prior to 2011, few draft picks signed before July 4. Now, the vast majority of the 256 draft picks are under contract.
