Restricted free agent running back C.J. Anderson won’t go to the Dolphins after all.
The Broncos have informed Anderson that they are matching the Dolphins’ offer, meaning Anderson will remain a Bronco, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports and PFT has confirmed.
When the Dolphins signed Anderson to a four-year, $18 million offer sheet, it seemed unlikely that the Broncos would keep him. After all, the Broncos could have kept Anderson for $2.553 million this season simply by tendering him at a higher level as a restricted free agent. If the Broncos like Anderson enough to sign him to a four-year, $18 million contract, why didn’t they sign him to a one-year, $2.553 million contract when they had the chance?
But whatever the Broncos’ reasoning, they’re now going to keep their top running back from their march through the postseason. And the Dolphins will have to look elsewhere for a running back to replace the departed Lamar Miller.
