Cardale Jones might have been the third quarterback at Ohio State at the beginning of the season, but he’s definitely on NFL radars now.
After leading the Buckeyes to a national title last night, the redshirt sophomore admitted he has a decision to make, and leaving school early is under consideration.
“I’m not going to say ‘definitely,’” Jones said, via NFL.com. "[The NFL] is something that I’ll consider. My most important focus is getting my degree.”
That’s good to hear, from the quarterback who once tweeted: “we ain’t come to play SCHOOL, classes are POINTLESS.”
But it might not be a simple call.
The Buckeyes could also bring back the two guys who buried him on the depth chart when they recover from injuries, Braxton Miller and J.T. Barrett.
“I’m not leaving,” Barrett told SI.com. “I don’t think Braxton is leaving. I don’t think Cardale is leaving. That’s being honest. With that, I mean, it’s just competition. It’s part of football. It’s what we’re about to do.”
Of course, Jones was the only one to do it Monday night, and he might decide the time is right to make the jump.
