Carroll: Fred Jackson will play a lot on Sunday

Running back Fred Jackson hasn’t been a member of the Seahawks for very long, but that won’t get in the way of letting him contribute to the team’s attempt to beat the Rams on Sunday.

Jackson’s signing only became official on Monday, which didn’t leave him much time to get up to speed on the team’s offensive scheme. The lack of time didn’t seem to cause Jackson any problems when it came to learning what coach Pete Carroll needed him to learn in order to get on the field for the team’s season opener.

“He’ll play a lot,” Carroll said, via the Seattle Times. “He ran the whole offense today. I don’t know how he got it all done, but he got it done today so I would think he’ll be ready to go.”

Earlier on Monday, Carroll shared some of his thoughts about how Jackson would fit into the offense. He highlighted “the security” that comes with Jackson’s skills as a receiver and pass protector while discussing a third down role for the veteran back and it seems like he’ll be sliding into at least that role a few days from now.
