Chiefs General Manager John Dorsey might not drop much draft news during his press conference today, but he did give his fans something to look forward to.

Via Terez Paylor of the Kansas City Star, Dorsey offered some positive news about outside linebacker Justin Houston, saying he was ahead of schedule in his rehab from surgery to repair his knee.

“Our doctors have reassured us that Justin will be playing this season,” Dorsey said.

That would put him on the front half of the six to 12-month timetable initially established when he had surgery in February to repair his ACL and LCL. Houston missed time late in the year, but returned to play in the postseason, which the team has since defended.

Houston has already posted the obligatory workout video promising a quick return, which will be better news than the Chiefs can anticipate from anything they get out of next week’s draft.
