Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder had to leave Thursday’s game early, but he wasn’t injured badly.
Ponder’s left shoulder dislocation is considered minor, and it’s very possible that Ponder will start the Vikings’ next game against the Seahawks, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
That meshes with the cautious optimism expressed by Vikings coach Leslie Frazier, who said that if Ponder can heal quickly, he won’t miss any time.
After an ugly interception to start the game, Ponder settled down and played pretty well in Thursday night’s win. (Helped, of course, by the fact that Washington’s defense stinks.) If he’s healthy, he’ll get a chance to show what he can do against a much better defense in Seattle.
Frazier has not said whether Matt Cassel or Josh Freeman would get the start if Ponder can’t go. On Thursday it was Cassel who got the call to finish the game after Ponder went down.
