A potential first-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft has a much weightier matter to deal with this week.

According to WAFB, police in Baton Rouge, La., want to talk to LSU offensive lineman La’el Collins regarding a murder investigation, though he’s not a suspect.

The report says the police are investigating the murder of a pregnant woman, a 29-year-old who was shot to death last Friday night.

The woman suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body.

Cpl. Don Coppola with the Baton Rouge Police Department said they were trying to reach Collins now.

“We are consistently pursuing getting in touch with him, not as a suspect, but to ask him questions about the victim,” Coppola said. “Detectives have reached out and been in touch with his agent. Collins is currently in Chicago for the NFL draft. . . .

“They did have some kind of relationship. Detectives just want to learn more about what he might know.”

The woman was eight months pregnant, but the child survived the shooting, and remains under medical care.

Collins was one of the 28 players who accepted the league’s invitation to attend the draft.
