The Seahawks lost in St. Louis to start the season. As they prepare for a Sunday night date with the Packers at Lambeau Field, Seattle still lacks the services of safety Kam Chancellor.

“Yeah, nothing new,” coach Pete Carroll told reporters on Monday, echoing his radio remarks from earlier in the day. “I wish I could tell you more, there’s nothing new.”

Earlier in the press conference, Carroll downplayed the impact of Chancellor’s absence on the performance against the Rams. However, Carroll admitted that the defense wasn’t properly lined up on a touchdown run by Rams receiver Tavon Austin, who positioned himself as a tailback before sweeping to the left and into the end zone. Chancellor potentially could have helped the defense be ready for that play.

Hopefully, Chancellor is ready for the number arising from his holdout. The cost through Sunday was $1.87 million in fines, forfeitures, and lost wages. Another $267,000 gets added to that total this week, pushing the number to more than $2.1 million.
