Cowboys like how La’el Collins looks, at both tackle and guard

The Cowboys aren’t sure where on their offensive line rookie La’el Collins will play, but they like what they’re seeing from him.

Collins played right tackle at last week’s Organized Team Activities and is at left guard this week, and coach Jason Garrett says Collins has looked good in both roles.

“He’s done a good job,” Garrett said, via the Star-Telegram. “He’s played both tackle and guard for us, like we had talked about coming out. He’s done some good things at tackle; he’s done some good things at guard. He’s learning. He’s a young player, and he’s four practices into his NFL career. He hasn’t done a whole lot, and we do a lot in terms of installation every week. He’s going to see a lot of different looks from the defense, so he, like a lot of young guys, they’re trying their best to hang in there. But they’re a long way off from where they need to be. He’s working the right way, though.”

Collins said he wants to play where ever the coaches think he’ll best help the team.

“Pretty much wherever my coach needs me on that day. Versatility is definitely there, and I look forward to it,” Collins said.

That’s the right attitude, and the early returns are that the Cowboys got a big boost to their offensive line when they signed Collins.
