Crumpler’s contract: $4.8 million for two years

The New England Patriots officially added tight end Alge Crumpler this week to a contract that is reportedly worth $4.8 million over two years.

The Boston Herald is reporting that Crumpler has received a signing bonus of $1 million, will make a salary of of $1.4 million in 2010 and will make $2.4 million in 2011.

With that deal, the Patriots out-bid the Titans, even though Tennessee coach Jeff Fisher said he wished he could have kept Crumpler.

The 32-year-old Crumpler is still a decent blocker, but his receiving productivity has declined steadily. He had 877 receiving yards in 2005, 780 receiving yards in 2006, 444 receiving yards in 2007, 257 receiving yards in 2008 and 222 receiving yards in 2009.
