Darrelle Revis calls trade “a great move on my part”

Buccaneers cornerback Darrelle Revis said at his introductory press conference that he believes he has joined a great team in Tampa Bay, and he’s going to help them make a statement that they’re ready to get back on top.

“We’re going to make a lot of noise, don’t worry about that,” Revis said. “This was a great move on my part to come be a part of this organization.”

Revis said he thinks the Bucs have talent on both sides of the ball, and he’s excited to play with that talent.

“We have some great guys and that was one of the things that me and my team looked at,” Revis said. “I think they were a playoff team even before me being a part of Buc Nation. I’m just adding a piece to it.”

Before Revis can prove that trading a first-round pick and a likely third-round pick to the Jets was a great move for the Buccaneers, he’ll need to get all the way back from the torn ACL that cut short his 2012 season. The trade became official only after the Bucs gave Revis a physical, so the team doctors must be confident that he’s making good progress, but Revis declined to say how his knee feels right now.

“We’re not really going to get into the health issues right now. I’m working as hard as I can,” Revis said.

If Revis is 100 percent recovered, and as good with the Bucs as he was with the Jets, then this was, in fact, a great move for the Bucs.
