DeAngelo Williams: Vontaze Burfict is a “danger to the game”

The Bengals defended Vontaze Burfict after yet another fine and Mike Florio wonders how far away we are from Cincinnati or the NFL taking serious action.

Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said Wednesday that he doesn’t think linebacker Vontaze Burfict did anything to deserve the $75,000 fine handed down by the league for his actions in last Sunday’s game against the Patriots.

Burfict has been suspended for three games and fined several times for violations of player safety rules, which Lewis said he thought was the reason for the fine as opposed to Burfict intentionally stomping on Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount. Steelers running back DeAngelo Williams has a different view from Lewis and believes that the league dropped the ball by stopping at a fine.

Williams then replied to a Twitter user who parroted Lewis’ opinion that Burfict was fined because of his past actions as opposed to his present one by calling Burfict a “danger to the game.” It’s not the first time that Williams has shared a negative opinion of Burfict on social media, although it remains to be seen if Burfict will be responding in kind this time around.
