At the end of the 2009 season, Devin Aromashodu looked like Jay Cutler’s favorite receiver. One very disappointing campaign later, he’s on his way out of Chicago.
Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune notes the Bears chose not to extend a qualifying tender to Aromashodu, making him an unrestricted free agent after a CBA is reached.
Aromashodu saw a lot of action in the team’s season opening win against Detroit, and then was barely seen after that. He never seemed to possess the precise route running that offensive coordinator Mike Martz was looking for.
The Bears say they love Johnny Knox, Devin Hester, and Earl Bennett as their receiver group. It’s a solid gang of role players that could still use a lead dog.
