Dolphins defensive end Dion Jordan practiced for the first time in two years today and said afterward that he felt good, but he doesn’t know when --or if -- he’ll be on the field for a game.
“It’s kinda hard to tell, man,” Jordan said of whether he’ll play this year, via the Palm Beach Post. “It’s my health. It’s my body. If my body tells me I’m not ready to go out there and perform with the best athletes, then I’m not gonna put myself out there, but the way things have been going, they’ve been going well. I’ve got high hopes for myself to get out there and compete before the season ends.”
Jordan opened the season on the non-football injury list as a result of a knee injury. He had previously been serving a suspension for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing substance policy. He admitted that he’s not quite up to speed at the moment, but he thinks he’s getting there.
“I felt good, honestly,” Jordan said. “This is my first time actually doing position-specific drills for the team. I was kinda rusty, but other than that, it was good. I kinda figured my first day would be like that.”
The third overall pick in the 2013 NFL draft, Jordan was a disappointment even before his suspension, and it seems unlikely that he’ll ever provide the Dolphins with the kind of value they were expecting when they traded up to draft him. But there’s at least a chance he’ll be back on the field before the season is over.
