Do not ask Julian Edelman for Super Bowl tickets

This is the week when friends and families of the teams in the Super Bowl are scrambling, trying to make their way to Arizona, and trying to put their hands on tickets.

Of course, Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman might not have many friends, after the way he rebuffed ticket requests the last time he was in the game.

I’m a pretty big a-hole to all my friends and family,” Edelman said, via Phil Perry of “They know that. When it’s football time it’s football time.”

Saying no to the loved ones is difficult, and can be a time-consuming process. But Edelman said that when he went in 2011 for the first time, he learned in a hurry that being abrupt was the quickest way to end the distraction, and get on to the work at hand.

“I think you want to make the process as familiar as possible to what you’re used to by going out and preparing like you try to do everyday,” Edelman said. “Going in the hot tub, the cold tub, getting your treatment every day. It’s gonna be a little different.

“Usually the team that can handle that stuff the best is usually the team that comes out with a win.”

Of course, being a grouch doesn’t necessarily guarantee results (though Bill Belichick’s not taking any chances with that one), but having experience dealing with some of the ancillary issues can’t hurt.
