The Chargers lost another running back to injury on Sunday, but it isn’t hampering them a bit.
Donald Brown is done for the day because of a concussion, which means that the Chargers now have their top three running backs from the start of the season on the sideline because of injuries. Luckily for them, Branden Oliver is their No. 4.
Oliver had a 50-yard catch and run in the first half and he broke free for a 52-yard run in the third quarter with a touchdown run late in the second quarter stuffed in between those big plays. Oliver has proven to be too much for an overmatched Jets defense, which is getting gashed with regularity and getting no support from the offense.
The Chargers have also seen right tackle D.J. Fluker (ankle) and wide receiver Malcom Floyd (calf) leave with injuries. Both are questionable to return, but may not be needed in a game the Chargers lead 28-0 after Oliver added a touchdown pass to his previous highlights.
Things don’t figure to get much better on defense for the Jets. Defensive end Sheldon Richardson is questionable to return with a neck injury and starting cornerback Darrin Walls is out with a knee injury.
