EMMITT’S VERBAL FOIBLE OF THE WEEK

Though we missed it live, several readers tell us that ESPN’s Emmitt Smith, during the 10:00 a.m. EST SportsCenter, routinely referred to Steelers kicker Jeff Reed as “Jeff Fisher.” Oy. It’s unknown whether Emmitt signed a two-year deal or a three-year contract with ESPN when he joined the network in 2007. We have a feeling that we’ll get an answer to that question over the next several weeks. Because if ESPN was committed to Emmitt for only two seasons, we doubt that he’ll be back for a third.
