Packers restricted free agent center Evan Dietrich-Smith has signed his one-year tender with the club, the NFL disclosed in its Friday transactions.
Dietrich-Smith, 26, replaced Jeff Saturday as the Packers’ starting center late in the 2012 regular season. He has also played guard. In February, Packers head coach Mike McCarthy indicated that Dietrich-Smith projects best at center, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported.
The Packers held first-refusal rights on Dietrich-Smith in restricted free agency after extending him a contract offer.
Dietrich-Smith (6-2, 308) has played 45 games in four NFL seasons, with all nine starts coming in the last two campaigns.
