Evan Mathis: My options will be clearer in a week or two
It’s been more than a month since guard Evan Mathis was released by the Eagles and he hasn’t landed another job for the 2015 season yet, something that he says isn’t a cause for concern.
Mathis’s agent Drew Rosenhaus said shortly after his release that at least six teams had reached out to Mathis, but that they would be methodical and avoid rushing into a deal with anyone. Nothing seems to have changed regarding that approach.
During a Wednesday appearance on CBS Sports Radio, Mathis said there was “no rush at all” to sign with a team and that he expects pursuit of him to “ramp up” in the coming days.
“Exactly what my options are aren’t as clear as they will be in a week or two,” Mathis said, via Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald.
Beasley reports the Dolphins are one of the teams with “at least some degree of interest” in adding Mathis to their offensive line, but that their personnel decision-makers have been on vacation along with many of their peers from around the league. As they return to work, Mathis’s market should take shape in time for him to start camp with a team if there’s an offer to his liking.
