When the NFL hired Ted Wells to investigate bullying on the Dolphins’ offensive line, Wells issued a scathing report that resulted in the firing of line coach Jim Turner. Now Turner is fighting back.
Turner is filing a defamation lawsuit against Wells, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
The decision to file a lawsuit is the latest salvo from Turner, who has ripped Wells in the past for undertaking what Turner saw as an unfair investigation designed to find a scapegoat.
“Wells is not a good human being, and when I didn’t give him the stories he wanted, he targeted me as part of a problem in Miami. He’s not an independent investigator, he’s not doing this looking at both sides of the situation, he’s hired by the NFL and he’s going to print the story that they want printed,” Turner said in May.
Turner feels that Wells irreparably damaged his career, and now Turner wants to make Wells pay.
