Falcons add O’Brien Schofield to revamped defensive front

Schofield

The Falcons entered the offseason intent on adding to their pass-rush, and they’ve picked up another mid-grade player there.

The team announced they signed former Seahawks defensive end/linebacker O’Brien Schofield.

Obviously he has familiarity with new Falcons coach Dan Quinn from his days in Seattle, and he gives the Falcons another versatile part.

They’ve also signed former Buccaneers defensive end Adrian Clayborn today, to go along with their early splurge on linebackers Brooks Reed and Justin Durant.

Injuries have plagued Schofield, from the knee problem that killed his draft status, to the contract-voided failed physical with the Giants.

But he’s also been a rotations player throughout, and has 13.5 sacks in five seasons. Quinn obviously thinks he can fill a role, but he hasn’t delivered on that potential yet.
