Flacco’s agent’s phone hasn’t rung, yet

Ravens coach John Harbaugh said the team should “pay the man.” The man who represents the man who should be paid has yet to hear from the team.

Texans quarterback Matt Schaub got a four-year extension worth up to $62 million in new money after beating the Dolphins in Week One. So with Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco knocking out a Bengals team that went to the playoffs last season via 299 yards passing, shouldn’t his agent’s phone be ringing, too?

So far, it’s not. Joe Linta tells PFT that nothing has happened since last night’s game. “And that’s fine with Joe,” Linta said. “He’s all about this season. No talk about contract. This season is bigger than the contract to him. However, he has given me permission to talk to them anytime they call. His play on the field is a much better negotiating tool than anything I could say.”

Linta is right. And it doesn’t hurt that the head coach is openly lobbying for the team to give Flacco whatever he wants.
