Former Jacksonville Jaguars first-round draft pick Reggie Williams avoided jail time in a possession of cocaine case that was settled Monday when he was sentenced to two years of probation. Williams pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance. According to the Associated Press, Williams, 25, can avoid having a felony conviction on his record if he fulfills future legal requirements. Per the report, he’s now subject to random drug testing by Texas law enforcement authorities. He was also fined $200. Williams was subdued by a Taser and arrested last spring following a bar incident in Houston. Williams is an unrestricted free agent following a disappointing run in Jacksonville after being selected with the ninth overall pick out of the University of Washington in 2004. The Jaguars didn’t attempt to retain him when his rookie contract expired after last season. In 2007, Williams caught 38 passes for 629 yards and 10 touchdowns after catching 52 passes for 616 yards and four touchdowns in 2006. Last season, Williams caught 37 passes for 364 yards and three touchdowns For his career, Williams has registered 189 receptions for 2,322 yards and 18 touchdowns.
