If you live in Detroit and you’re not doing anything else on Monday night at 6:20 p.m. local time and you otherwise don’t have the money or interest to justify buying a ticket when the Lions play at Ford Field, you can go to the Giants-Vikings game at no charge.

The Vikings have announced that free tickets will be available as of 8:00 a.m. Monday. Folks who have tickets to the game that was supposed to be played in Minneapolis will receive “preferred seating” near the 50-yard line.

So apart from the Vikings’ dome-field noise advantage evaporating, it’s safe to say that many of the folks who show up will be Lions fans who’ll be inclined to root against Brett Favre and the Vikings.

Heck, maybe even some local Packers fans will show up for the purposes of heckling Favre.

UPDATE: The league has announced that fans with tickets to Sunday’s Lions-Packers game will be able to attend Monday’s game without having to get a separate ticket.
