Glennon, Bucs cough up a chance at early lead

Tampa Bay Buccaneers v Carolina Panthers

The Panthers have done more bending than breaking early, with the Buccaneers driving the ball well on them.

But a mystery turnover by Buccaneers quarterback Mike Glennon just kept his side from taking the lead, and the Panthers are hanging onto a 10-6 edge.

The Bucs have gained 126 yards so far, but only have a pair of field goals to show for it. And after he hit Vincent Jackson for a 60-yard pass, Glennon simply dropped the ball while being chased to kill what would have been an easy scoring chance.

The Panthers responded with a long drive, but had to settle for a short field goal and a four-point lead.

The Bucs defense has mostly held the Panthers run game in check, other than a 56-yard scramble by Cam Newton. But he’s thrown an interception already, and the Panthers aren’t as sharp as you’d think a team with seven straight wins would be.
