The Raiders will need an offensive coordinator to go with their new head coach, which looks it will be the defense-oriented Jack Del Rio at the moment, but keeping Greg Olson in place may not be an option.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Olson is on his way to Jacksonville to interview with the Jaguars for the coordinator opening they created by firing Jedd Fisch. Olson spent the 2012 season with the Jags as the assistant head coach and quarterbacks coach on Mike Mularkey’s staff.
That team saw Blaine Gabbert struggle to develop in his second season, but Olson had a lot more success working with Derek Carr during Carr’s rookie season in Oakland. That experience is likely appealing to a Jaguars team that needs to develop Blake Bortles into a consistent, high-performing quarterback in order to work themselves back into the playoff mix.
Several other names have been thrown into the hat for the job in Jacksonville, although Greg Roman’s was pulled out when he took the offensive coordinator job on Rex Ryan’s staff in Buffalo.
